  Surprisingly strong selection of English books, and the gorgeous building and prime rooftop is a legitimate tourist destination.

  A well designed and visually pleasant environment. Usually crowded with tourists during weekend; best to avoid if you seek quietness. Plenty of restaurants and cafes onsite. A good place spent a lazy Sunday afternoon with family or friends.

  Book land. Plus good cafe at level 2. Go check the rooftop for the skyline of KH.

  The library is one of the first architectural centerpieces in the 新灣區 New Bay Area to have reached completion. It is enjoyable to visit from that standpoint alone. If you are a local looking to actually use it, management is still not quite up up to par. Many foreign books can not be borrowed, the library is often invaded by students who use it as a lounge all day long and often leave their belongings to claim tables hours at a time even when they aren't around. I am leaving five stars because compared to what Kaohsiung had before this library opened, there aren't enough stars to thank the city for building this. It is a world class library, that hopefully one day can be managed as such. Recommendations for staff: Strict seating use enforcement, children's activities and lessons, allowing more books to actually be borrowed, public musical instrument (a piano?), Q&A counter for those who need assistance, etc. UPDATE 2018: Borrowing foreign books is now possible for children's books only. Still a long way to go for management, but still a world class library. The LAB coffee shop is quite good, though they run out of bread often.
