  I regularly visited the restaurant when I was in Tainan. Xinyi Street (信義街) is getting popular because of the charming of small alleys with one of the remaining fortresses (probably the only one in Tainan as well as Taiwan) The restaurant like its name "烹書", literally stewing for the books. That is, the owner have various genres of books from literature (Taiwan, Hong Kong as well as western), artistic (historical perspectives of Hong Kong and Taschen series) as well as comic. The restaurant is rebuilt from an old house so that you could immerse in the environment historically. One of my favourite meals is Taco Rice, which represented the Mexican style with full of rice and vegetable. Thus, you do not have to worry that you would be hungry afterwards. Importantly, the price is very affordable in a restaurant level. There is also one cutie doggie staying nearby in this house, and the owner is quite friendly.
