::I stayed here with my family (4 people total) for 4 nights this past week. We rented a 4 bed unit and paid extra for dinner to be included. Overall, both of my kids, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves here, and a big part of that was the hotel manager, Allen. He was awesome! Here are more details about our stay. 1) location: the hotel is easy to get to, and is situated in a picturesque valley. It is just above the river, and there are a couple of good hikes nearby. My kids really enjoyed going down to the river to look for frogs, and there are lots fish and cool bugs too. Given that I have limited experience driving in Taiwan, I was happy to be able to park the car and leave it for a day. I give the location a 5/5. 2) the hotel: the building is really nice, and the landscaping was well done. The seating area on the top (9th) floor can be unpleasant depending on the wind direction as the septic tanks are situated up there. The carpets could also use a good steam clean and I think it would be better if they banned smoking in the rooms. Otherwise I had no issues with the hotel. I give it a 4/5. 3) the room: the room was really quite nice. There was a small balcony with a tap, and we were given 6 bottles of water and all of the toiletries you need for a stay. The beds were soft and really comfortable. My only issues is that the walls seem really thin and so you can hear your neighbours quite a bit. As well, the hotel gets quite a few tour buses, and there seems to be quite a few smokers amongst them. Two out of 4 nights we had bad smoke smells coming into the room and one night the guys next door were loud till 1 am. Not ideal. In summary, I give the room a 5/5, but the ambiance a 3/5. 4) the hot springs: there are 3 sets of outdoor pools, which are open to the public and can get quite crowded after work. However, the water was a great temperature! On the top floor there was a hot pool, a warm pool and a cold pool. One floor down they had a warm pool and a cold pool, plus a sauna and a steam room. The lowest level was a cold pool, but it was closed because it was January. The pools were all nice and the landscaping was good, and if you went during the day they were nearly empty. I wasn’t a huge fan of wearing a swim cap in the hot springs since it traps heat, but I guess it is better than hair. The change rooms could use some updating and I think a bit of maintenance and updating is needed. Overall the pools get a 4/5 5) Jacuzzi tubs: there are 15 jacuzzi tubs in the 9th floor that are drained after each guest. You get one hour per day to use the tubs per night you stay. We really enjoyed these rooms as they were a chance to enjoy the hot springs without the crowds. Having said that the rooms could also use updating and probably a very thorough cleaning on a regular basis. I give these a 4/5 too. 6) the food: the food was excellent and again I give a huge call out to the hotel / restaurant manager, Allen. He was the only English speaking staff member in the dinner hall, and he took great care of us. It was awesome. We truly appreciated his explanations of what everything was because we were the only non-Chinese speakers in the place for the 4 days we were there, and it made life infinitely easier! The food at dinner was excellent and we really enjoyed the Hakka meals. Each meal consisted of 6 dishes including an appetizer, one or two veggie dishes and one or two meat dishes, fish and a soup. We never got the same thing day to day. Again, I give Allen credit here because a lot of people seemed to only stay one night, so it would have been easier to simply serve the same thing night after night, yet we never saw the same dish twice. Breakfasts were always the same, but there was lots of variety. I think Allen took pity on us on Day 4 because he had eggs made especially for us, and bacon and sausages on Day 5. It was a nice touch! I definitely recommend including the dinner plan with your room! I give the food a 5/5 and I give Allen a 6/5! All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and definitely recommend it!

::This hotel is in stunning, peaceful surroundings. Rooms are large, comfortable, but not luxurious, though they do have deep spa baths. The staff are unbelievably helpful, and several speak excellent English. The spa itself is over three levels, with incredible views, and various water temperatures, from cold to around 50°C. There is a sauna and a steam room. At the top level spa you feel like you are in the forest, we even saw a wild monkey! This hotel and spa feel a little tired in places, but this is reflected in the price. We paid 4000NT for two people with full access to the spa, two private jacuzzi sessions, breakfast and a traditional Hakka dinner with plum wine. Great value, highly recommended.

::Good value. Family tub on the roof is quite nice. The hotel is the oldest in the area so expect a bit of wear and tear but service and maintenance standard are more than fine.
