Jeff Wu
Yu-hsin Cheng

::If memory serves me, the original noodle shop that carried this name (at least 30 years ago) was nothing more than a little tin-roof shack sandwiched between a bus transfer station and a pharmacy. The noodles were plenty and served al dente, the beef chunks were large and marbled (and somewhat on the chewy side), and the soup was full of salt, grease, and MSG. The shop's name remains today, but the ownership has long been passed on and the location has moved (occupying the current storefront). The beef is still large, marbled, and somewhat chewy; the noodles are still plenty. The soup isn't as greasy and salty as it once was -- actually, quite tasteless if you don't add a generous amount of chili oil, vinegar, and pickled vegetables on your own. If you live within waking distance, it may be a convenient and affordable place for some beef noodles; if you don't live nearby, you don't have to seek this place out.
